Charities are managed on a day to day basis by the staff of the organisation.
The Board or Management Committee have overall responsibility. They oversee the work of the staff and help to guide the direction and strategy of the charity. Management Committee members are called Trustees.
Trustees are volunteers who have a range of skills - professional or life skills, and a keen interest in the aims and activities of the charity.
Anyone can become a Trustee
(the minimum age is 18).
Trustee work is interesting and very rewarding.
In terms of time committment, Trustees of local charities need to be able to attend regular monthly or bi-monthly meetings which would normally last a couple of hours. Often the meetings are held in the evenings.
Trustees can also get more involved in the running of the charity - using their skills and experience to help with specific projects that interest them.
If you're interested in helping to manage a local charity please contact us - we'll be really pleased to provide you with more information.
We have Trustee opportunities with a number of local charities involved in a wide range of activities including:
The Arts, Counselling, The Environment, Supporting Families, Homelessness, Mental Health, Learning Disablities, Young People, Community Banking etc....
