Retail Manager

Salary: £17,000 to £19,000 based on experience
Hours: 37 per week

We’re looking for an experienced Retail Manager to run our busy retail business. As well as managing the day to day retail activities you will be responsible for maintaining a fully staffed retail warehouse. You'll work alongside and help to develop and motivate both paid and volunteer staff to deliver excellent customer service, maximise sales and reuse, as well as contributing to the charity to expanding its range of activities.
The successful candidate will be creative, resourceful, self motivated and have proven retail experience. A flexible attitude to working hours is required.

IT Can Help
COUNTY/DISTRICT CO-ORDINATOR’ ROLE
IT Can Help http://www.itcanhelp.org.uk is a programme of BCS- The Chartered Institute for IT.
The purpose of IT Can Help is to offer computer assistance to individuals with disabilities by providing volunteers who will visit disabled people in their homes and at other locations such as day centres.
Since its establishment, IT Can Help has been providing disabled people with effective Information Technology solutions. In the past two years alone, IT Can Help has made over 2,000 visits, solving many hardware and software problems, as well as helping people to gain confidence using a computer.
The service is built around a network of skilled volunteers who are prepared to offer disabled people free, computer assistance.
Everyone involved in the Network, over 250 people, is a volunteer ,
IT Can Help is structured as follows:
- IT Support Volunteer: visit clients (disabled people) in their own homes and at other locations.
- County/District Co-ordinator (CC): recruit, co-ordinate and support the IT Support Volunteers within the County/District. They also visit clients in conjunction with IT Support Volunteers or independently.
- Area Organiser (AO): develop and maintain the Network across several counties and support County/District Co-ordinators in their area. Liaise with Management Group
- Management Group: Manages the programme and comprises 12 members.
1. Aim
The role of the CC is to develop and maintain IT Can Help in the designated County/District.
2. Responsibilities
- Taking clients calls/emails and allocating these to IT Support Volunteers (usually by emailing them with brief details and asking for a volunteer).
- Being a vounteer as well, ready to help clients
- Assisting in the recruitment of IT Support Volunteers by contacting volunteer bureaux and similar organisations
- Meeting potential volunteers to gauge their suitability
- Assisting in creating local awareness by publicising the network to disability charity organisations, libraries, community centres
- Keeping track of calls in your County/District and providing quarterly statistics
- Supporting and motivating your volunteers.
3. Requirements
The role of County/District Co-ordinator would be suitable for someone who can meet the following requirements:
- Has good communication skills
- Has access to computer and email facilities
- Is able to travel to meet potential volunteers
- Has adequate IT skills to helps clients and support volunteers
- Has some administrative, management or coordinating experience
- Is able to work from home (note that everyone involved in the network is a volunteer apart from a part time administrator employed by BCS).
- Can commit, on average, 4 hours per week.

‘AREA ORGANISER’
VOLUNTARY ROLE – CENTRAL EAST (Beds, Bucks & Herts)
IT Can Help is structured as follows:
- IT Support Volunteer: visit clients (disabled people) in their own homes and at other locations.
- County Co-ordinator (CC): recruit, co-ordinate and support the IT Support Volunteers within the County. They also visit clients in conjunction with IT Support Volunteers or independently.
- Area Organiser (AO): develop and maintain the Network across several counties and support County Co-ordinators in their area. Liaise with Management Group
- Management Group: manages the programme and comprises 12 members.
The Central East area at present includes the following counties: Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. If it suited both Organisers, Northamptonshire could be added from Central West area.
1. Aim
To develop and maintain IT Can Help in the designated area.
2. Responsibilities
- Facilitate the implementation of guidelines/practices set by Management Group (MG).
- Seek and appoint County Coordinators (CCs) in vacant counties.
- Support CCs (In particular, provide assistance, if required, in obtaining clients and volunteers)
- Establish a procedure to cover for temporary absent CCs.
- Support lone volunteers in areas where there are no CCs (until CC is appointed).
- Raise public awareness
- Keep MG fully informed of developments
3. Management Group’s Responsibilities To Area Organiser
- Work with Area Organiser (AO) in developing a strategy to take forward AO responsibilities
- Approve County Coordinators
- Provide support/advice
- Arrange training and keep informed of the latest developments.
- Vet CCs/volunteers if required.
4. Requirements
The role of Area Organiser would be suitable for someone who can meet the following requirements:
- track record in project management or senior administration
- good communication skills
- has access to computer and email facilities
- IT skills desirable.
- Knowledge of disability software and hardware would be helpful.
- able to work from home
- can commit, on average, one day per week.
- able to attend one/two AO meetings a year (presently held in London)
