The Adults Safeguarding Board
The Adult Safeguarding Board for Bedford Borough operates in partnership with the Central Bedfordshire Council to safeguard vulnerable adults and Older People in the two council areas from all forms of abuse, to promote dignity and care and ensure that all services working in our area or are funded by the council to live in other areas are safe, sound, supportive and effective. The webpages for the two councils can be found at:
These web pages also provide links to more information including: the Adult Safeguarding Board Terms of Reference, Members Concordat, the Multi Agency Adult Safeguarding Policy, Practice and Procedures and the Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough Multiagency Safeguarding Adults Competencies Framework (2010).
Although at first these documents appear ‘a bit daunting’ they provide a mine of information about the structures, competencies and frameworks that have been adopted by the Safeguarding Board to actively tackle this matter. These, together with their actions, show just how seriously both Councils and their partner agencies are about this. We encourage all voluntary sector agencies delivering services to adults to engage with these documents (if you have not already done so) and revisit these pages regularly to keep up to date.
Those eligible and wishing to take advantage of the ‘Free Provider Training’ which is available through the ‘Learning and Development Programme for Transforming Adult Services’ should go to Bedford Borough Council's Free Provider Training Webpage and then click on ‘The Adult Service Training Plan 2010/2011’. (The ‘Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults’ training appears on pages 23 and 24)
