Thursday 22nd May 2008 - 9.45am to 4.30pm - at 43 Bromham Road, Bedford
Free of charge (includes course handouts, buffet lunch, tea/coffee)
The Workshop is for:
- Trustees, chief officers and other senior staff involved in funding and development.
About the Workshop:
It is becoming increasingly clear that government organisations are replacing many grants to the third sector with contracts. It is equally clear that third sector organisations therefore need to explore and ready themselves for the whole arena of tendering for contracts. Effective tendering requires an understanding of the legislative, policy and the practical background within which public sector procurement is taking place. It also requires a clear understanding of what procurement officers want to see in your tender document and how to ensure your tender scores well at the appraisal stage. Getting Tender Ready may also be about forming consortia between organisations to tender for and deliver contracted services. This workshop will explore all these issues.
During the day, the workshop will enable participants to:
- understand the policy and legal changes underpinning procurement: Public Service Contracting
- understand the processes involved in procurement, including the procurement routes, prequalification questionnaire (PQQ), restricted, negotiated and e-procurement procedures
- consider how to improve tender preparation
- find out where public service tendering opportunities are publicised
- consider model appraisal schemes and a scoring scheme
- understand the potential impact of tendering and public service delivery on an organisation
- explore the different options for consortia working towards public service delivery
