What can I Report?
Any incident where you or anyone else has been targeted because they or you are believed to be different.
Any incident you believe was motivated because of:
- Race
- Religion
- Sexuality
- Sexual Orientation
- Disability
- Age
What is a Hate Crime?
Hate Crime is any offence committed against a person or property which is motivated by the offender's hatred of people because they are seen to be different.
You don't have to be from a minority community to be a victim of Hate Crime.
Hate Crime hurts; it can be confusing and frightening. By reporting it, you may be able to prevent these crimes from happening to someone else.
Reporting makes a difference ...to you, your friends, your life.
Incidents may involve Verbal Abuse, Harassment, Assault, Domestic Violence, Criminal Damage, Bullying, Graffiti, Threats or Murder.
Why Report it?
The Self-Reporting system allows you as the victim, witness, parent, carer, or any concerned person to report an incident to the StopHateUK Reporting Service or to the Police by giving as little or as much information as you wish.
How can I report it?
There are a number of ways you can report a Hate Crime:
- Report it to the Police, there are specially trained officers in your area who you can speak ti in confidence.
- Internet Reporting, some Police Forces, housing Associations, Councils, allow you to report online, check out your local web-sites.
- By Telephone to your local StopHateUK Reporting Service, who are trained to take your details and can signpost you to an appropriate agency to meet your needs.
- Information & Reporting Centres who have trained staff who can assist you with completing a Self Reporting Form or provide you with one.
