Bedford REC Aims and Objectives   

Bedford Race Equality Council is a voluntary organisation funded by the Commission for Racial Equality, Bedford Borough Council, Bedfordshire County Council, Bedfordshire County Council PSA, Connexions, MENTER and others.

The REC has three key aims and objectives, which are;

  • To work towards the elimination of racial discrimination, promote diversity and racial harmony between person’s of different groups. To encourage community cohesion and social inclusion.
  • To act as a conduit to the communities of Bedfordshire to ensure effective communication with local authorities, statutory bodies, public services and service agencies.
  • To ensure that the REC is a representative of the diverse communities of Bedfordshire by encouraging members from all ethnic minority communities to participate in partnerships and activities that will influence decision makers and improve quality of life for the communities of Bedfordshire
