About Us

The REC is managed by Chief Executive , Wendy Anderson-Welsh. Wendy works on a strategic level and manages the REC casework.

Strategic Development Officer - Glenis Orkisz.
  Glenis works to ensure that there is a voice for Black  and Minority Ethnic communities at a strategic level so that these communities can be included in the decision making processes of service providers within statutory authorities. Glenis also manages the Community Development Department and is Chair of Bedfordshire Women’s Forum.

Support Officer & Part time Caseworker - Purva Joshi. Purva provides PA support to the Chief Executive, manages the office in her absence & provides advice & guidance for people who have been racially discriminated against in employment. Purva runs the Drop In advice surgeries on Fridays.

Surgery Advisors Samreen Bashid and Lila Begum.
Work from the REC three days a week to provide advice and guidance, support and information. Outreach provision is provided at the GGS Gurdwara, Bedford Road, Kempston on the last Friday of each month

True Vision Hate Crime Co-ordinator / Link Officer – Merry Silk. Merry is responsible for co-ordinating the True Vision campaign and deals with all reported incidents of Hate Crime. Merry is also the Link Officer for the African Caribbean Support Service.

Reception/Admin Support – Robyn Anderson. Robyn is the first point of contact for all individuals contacting the REC. Robyn deals with all issues including details of forthcoming events, meetings and work of the REC.

BME Housing Support Officer – Gurbaksh Mahi.

MENTER – Pauline Stepney is the County Outreach Development Officer employed by the BME Regional Network known as MENTER. Pauline covers Bedfordshire and has an office base at the REC. Pauline assists groups and organisations with access to services, resources and to link with each other.

Trustee Board - The REC is governed by a Trustee Board made up of Councillors, organisation representatives and Individual Community Members. The aim of the Trustee Board is to oversee and scrutinize all of the work of the REC to ensure it is providing a fair and quality service to its clients and service users. The Trustee Board meet regularly and have at least 2 full council meetings per year as well as the Annual General Meeting which is open to any member of the community to attend.
