Safeguarding Children

By the end of this workshop you will...

  • be aware of the main forms of abuse and be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse
  • know what your actions should be if you suspect abuse is happening
  • understand the need to have a child protection policy and CRB checks

  • Recognition of the signs and symptoms of abuse
  • Why some children are more vulnerable to abuse than others
  • What to do if you suspect abuse is happening
  • What a good child protection policy should contain
  • Role of Bedfordshire Local Safeguarding Children Board
  • The new Vetting and Barring Scheme
  • CRB and who should be checked

Trainer

This one day workshop will be led by Jenny Allthorpe who is the training and development officer for Voluntary and Community Action. Jenny has worked as a teacher and as a youth and community worker and spent three years developing community based projects with children and young people at risk.

The day will be informal and informative.

Venue

The workshop will be held at Bossard House, West Street, Leighton Buzzard, LU7 1DA. This venue is fully accessible. Parking is available in a pay and display car park nearby.

Access and Individual Requirements

If you have any specific individual requirements to enable you to attend this event please let us know. Every effort is made to meet individual requirements, which might include; a loop system, sign language interpreter, wheelchair access, handouts in large print or special dietary requirements.

Refreshments including buffet lunch, with vegetarian and non vegetarian food, will be provided.
