Staff Supervision and Appraisal

This one day course will provide participants with a best practice framework within which to work, and a working knowledge of the issues surrounding support and supervision of staff.

This is for YOU if…

  • you are new to managing paid staff
  • you have some management experience but want to refresh your supervisory skills
  • you want to improve staff motivation and performance.

  • be clear about your role as a supervisor
  • have an awareness of the purpose of staff supervision and how this fits in with performance management
  • have explored communication skills
  • know how to recognise and deal with a range of issues and problems in managing and supporting staff

  • Functions and benefits of staff supervision and appraisal
  • Supervision and appraisal models and methods
  • Communication skills including giving feedback
  • Dealing with poor performance in staff
  • Managing common issues faced by supervisors

The day will be interactive and enable participants to share their knowledge and experience through group work and case studies.

Trainer

The course will be led by Jenny Allthorpe, Training and Development Officer for Voluntary and Community Action.

Venue

The workshop will be held at Bossard House, West Street, Leighton Buzzard, LU7 1DA. This venue is fully accessible. Parking is available in a pay and display car park nearby.

Access and Individual Requirements

If you have any specific individual requirements to enable you to attend this event please let us know. Every effort is made to meet individual requirements, which might include; a loop system, sign language interpreter, wheelchair access, handouts in large print or special dietary requirements.

Refreshments including buffet lunch, with vegetarian and non vegetarian food, will be provided.
