Volunteer Centre celebrates Volunteers’ Week with Open Day on Thursday
Next week, 1-7 June, is Volunteers’ Week. Volunteers' Week is a national celebration of volunteers and volunteering and this year is the 25th anniversary.
Events are taking place around the country and staff and volunteers from the local Volunteer Centre will be out and about all week.
The Volunteer Centre is holding an Open Day on Thursday 4th in its office on the first floor of Bossard House, West Street, Leighton Buzzard. Anyone who wants to know more about volunteering and how they can get involved can drop in. The team will be welcoming people with a cup of tea and home made cakes, and providing leaflets and information to take away.
They will be manning a stall on Leighton Buzzard market on the Tuesday (2nd June) and on Dunstable market on Wednesday (3rd). Displays with lots of information about volunteering and local organisations needing volunteers will be up in both Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard libraries throughout the week.
“If you’ve thought about volunteering but not got around to it, Volunteers’ Week is a brilliant opportunity to find out more. Just pop along, you could be surprised by how many different volunteering opportunities there are. Community groups, sports clubs, social clubs and all sorts of organisations welcome volunteers’ help,” says Lucy Crayk, Volunteering Officer at the Volunteer Centre Central Bedfordshire.
“Volunteering not only helps other people, it’s enjoyable and fun, and a great way to meet people and boost your CV.”
