Not looking forward to the predictable indigestion, family disputes and repeats of Only Fools and Horses over the Christmas holiday period? Why not do something different and inspiring this year by volunteering your time to help others enjoy the festive season? Volunteering at Christmas can be a great way for people to give something back to the local community, whilst having fun and meeting new people. If you have limited time during the rest of the year, this is an opportunity to do something worthwhile on a one-off basis.
Locally, the Noah Enterprise Welfare Centre needs your help. Noah Enterprise offers meals, washing and laundry facilities, medical and outreach services, advice on benefits & accommodation and qualifications in a range of subjects to homeless and disadvantaged people in Luton. The organisation is looking for enthusiastic volunteers over 18 to help in the Luton Day Centre for one or more days over the Christmas period (from 24 December 05 to 1 January 06).
Volunteers will be assisting Noah Enterprise staff in the kitchen, not cooking, but helping to prepare the food. Tasks could include chopping vegetables, buttering bread, making tea, collecting plates and loading/unloading the dishwasher.
Noah is also looking for enthusiastic, friendly people to assist with carol singing sessions and games. No experience is required, just enthusiasm and a dose of Christmas spirit!
During our Christmas and New Year office closure, please contact Noah Enterprise's Volunteer Co-ordinator Janet Brennan directly on 01582 728416.
