Volunteers
We are currently looking for volunteers to fill the following roles:
Article Researcher Volunteer
We are looking for a volunteer to search local newspapers for articles on voluntary and community organisations in South Bedfordshire. This would include any publicity received by groups or news that may impact on their activities or services. The information is then distributed to staff and local groups to provide up-to-date information, helping them to be informed about the local activities of the charitable sector and local government issues.
As well as searching local newspapers and news internet sites for articles, the role includes preparing and typing a brief description of each article of interest ready for circulation by email, photocopying certain articles for staff circulation and emailing news bulletins.
Time commitment is 2-3 hours per week on Fridays.
Community Database Administrator
Our community database helps to strengthen our knowledge of local voluntary and community sector organizations. By capturing and updating information and contacts relating to existing, previously unknown and hard to reach voluntary organisations and community groups we hope to ensure equal access to information and services.
Tasks undertaken by the Database Administrator include following up missing data by the use of phone/email for voluntary and community organisations in South Bedfordshire; sending questionnaires with follow-up letter to those groups who cannot be contacted by phone/email; using database software to enter questionnaires received from organisations and to check organisation details against Charity Commission details via the internet. This role is for anything from 3 - 14 hours per week (time flexible).
Estimated project length: 3 months (possibly ongoing).
Occasional Mailing Assistant
Would you like to volunteer but only want to commit to volunteering once in a while. If so this could be the opportunity for you. This is an opportunity to work in a friendly and supportive environment and work as part of a team. Voluntary and Community Action South Bedfordshire needs to ensure that local voluntary and community organisations receive their bi-monthly newsletter Action!
The newsletter provides up-to-date information on funding, training, volunteering, good governance, events and activities that may impact on organisations services or activities. A volunteer is required to assist a small team to fill, address label and frank envelopes which are sent out bi-monthly in the last week of months; January, March, May, July, September and November.
Could you offer to help for 4 hrs + (Time Flexible), either bi-monthly or even once in a while.
