F.U.N. volunteers needed over Easter
Families United Network (F.U.N) helps for families who have children aged 0–19 years with special needs or disabilities and is looking to recruit enthusiastic volunteers.
Volunteers support and encourage the children to take part in activities at play schemes run during school holidays for parents/carers, special needs children and their siblings.
Volunteers are supported by play scheme leaders who also supervise activities.
Volunteers do not need formal qualifications, they should just have an enjoyment and willingness to play with the children and be aged 16+.
The next play scheme runs Wednesday to Friday over the two weeks in the Easter school break, at Kinglsand College in Houghton Regis between 10.30 a.m. - 3.30 p.m. Volunteers do not need to commit to the entire six days.
The play schemes really are fun for all the family and provide a range of stimulating activities that encourage use of all the senses.
One member commented “We love the safe environment of the holiday club and the boys are able to let off some steam”.
Another said “The holiday club enables me to get them away from the TV and it gets us all involved in something new or different.”
Families United Network also runs play schemes in the February, May and October school half-terms and over five weeks in the school summer holidays
F.U.N. is there for the whole family no matter what a child's disability or special need. The organisation also offers a support network, regular activities, talks, coffee mornings, and friendly get-togethers with other parents/carers and siblings.
