Information

Voluntary and Community Action seeks to maintain, develop and enhance the provision of information services to meet the needs of the voluntary and community sector in Bedfordshire.

Newsletters

We publish Action! a bi-monthly newsletter which features local training opportunities and networking events, funding news, voluntary and community matters, resources, and information about our work. Local groups are invited to provide content for the voluntary and community matters section, and inserts can be included at a cost. See our Mailing Service page for more information.

Publications

We produce Information and Resource Sheets that answer frequently asked questions and much weightier reports such as Fit for Action – an Organisational Health Check, designed to enable voluntary organisations and community groups to take stock and review their activities, strengths and weaknesses. and Better Care – a resource pack of guidelines and model policies for voluntary and community sector organisations working with vulnerable adults. See what other publications have recently been published.

Library Resources

Voluntary and Community Action has an extensive library with over 800 publications covering issues that affect the voluntary sector including: information management; organisational management; personnel management; funding; regeneration policy and other general information (ie directories). By appointment users can come in and access our library resources and our Funderfinder database.

Community Mapping

Keeping track of local voluntary organisations and community groups enables us to extend and improve our reach to the sector at large. Last years Community Mapping questionnaire results have been published in a new report State of the Sector 2006 and those who requested listing in our find a local group searchable database can now be found online. Contact the Training and Information Co-ordinator if you would like your organisation to get a listing... more info
