This workshop will build on the skills you gained from the Fit for Funding workshop and will:
- explain how to identify and explain need for your work
- define aims, outcomes, targets and milestones

02/02/10 Empowering the Voluntary Sector to Influence Public Bodies
This workshop will help you;
- know the definition of Public Law and its affects on your organisation
- develop an understanding of the principles of public law
- know what to do when things go wrong and what you can do when faced with such problems
- know how to make a challenge on decisions, actions and failure to act by a public body
- public law remedies for complaints
- understand when a public body has not acted lawfully
- understand the solutions available to you
- develop the skills to negotiate effectively with public bodies on issues such as challenging funding cuts, failures to consult on policy changes, and local authority decisions concerning the provision of services.

23/02/10 – Networking event for Fundraisers and Treasurers
We are hosting another popular networking evening in the New Year for Fundraisers and Treasurers of organisations. This free event offers an opportunity to meet other people doing similar work, to share experiences, and to pick up some valuable fundraising insights from our speakers.
The evening will include presentations from Chris Large and Richard Gordon, from St Francis Children’s Society, and Adriana Lokman, from The Gift Aid Association. Chris and Richard will outline how SFCS makes use of a range of fundraising techniques and events to keep funds coming in, and how it manages grant funds and maximises returns from Gift Aid. Adriana will share how GAA’s EBay facility can help organisations turn donated goods into cash and will provide tips, help and support for anyone who might need a helping hand with setting up their own Gift Aid scheme to enhance their organisation’s income. A buffet supper and refreshments will be provided. We are expecting a high level of interest in this event, so please book early to secure your place – limit of 2 places per organisation.

06/03/10 – Roles and Responsibilities of Trustees
Running a voluntary organisation is a team task. One way to strengthen your management committee is to identify key governance and trustee issues and increase your understanding of individual and collective roles and responsibilities.
This course is ideal training for chairs and trustees looking to update their knowledge, for those taking on the role of trustee for the first time and for committee members of newly developing organisations.

18/03/10 - Assertiveness and Confidence Building
Assertiveness is a way of behaving that helps us express our thoughts, feelings and beliefs in direct, honest and helpful ways. It also means that we allow others to express their views and feelings in turn to us, and show respect for their point of view.
This course is suitable for paid workers and volunteers who want to build their confidence and skills in their relationships with others.
