Welcome to the E-Training Bulletin - a listing of training opportunities and consultation events of interest to voluntary organisations and community groups in the Bedfordshire and Luton area. 12/05/09 - Data Protection and Confidentiality
The aim of this one-day training workshop is to explain how the 1998 Data Protection Act and related legislation affect voluntary organisations. It will give participants the opportunity to explore the practical implications for their own organisations.

03/06/09 – Risk Assessment
This short session will cover all the basics of carrying out risk assessments in small organisations and offices, including employers’ and employees’ responsibility, who should carry out the assessment and who is responsible for taking action once the assessment is complete.

11/06/09 – Support and Supervision of Staff
Explore the principles and practice of effective supervision. This workshop is designed for those that supervise volunteers and/or paid staff, and will benefit those new to supervision or those who want to refresh their skills.

12/06/09 – Volunteers Co-ordinators Networking Event
We are pleased to announce this further opportunity for volunteer managers and co-ordinators to share ideas and good practice. You will have the opportunity to meet others and informally discuss issues around volunteering.

23 & 30/06/09 – Basic First Aid (two part course – evenings)
This workshop will provide you with an Appointed Persons certificate in First Aid, valid for three years, as a nominated person to take charge in an emergency. It is suitable for small organisations that require a member of staff or volunteer to have basic lifesaving skills.

This are a two-part evening workshop, you would have to attend both evenings in order to receive your certificate.

We are also running this course on Tuesday 13 October 9.30am – 1.30pm and a two part course in the evenings 4 and 11 February 2010. We are also taking bookings for these dates.

24/06/09 - Considering Incorporation?
This introductory-level training is intended for management committee members and relevant staff in established voluntary organisation, who are considering whether to become incorporated, as a company limited by guarantee or charitable incorporated organisation.

02/07/09 – Monitoring and Evaluation
This workshop will give participants a clearer understanding of the importance of monitoring and evaluation, particularly in demonstrating to funders that we are worth supporting. You will learn about the techniques you can employ and be able to identify the best approaches for your own group.
