Voluntary and Community Action has developed a new partnership to raise funds from Payroll Giving. It has been joined by nine other charities including Sight Concern Bedfordshire, The Greensand Trust and Disability Resource Centre.

Called 10together, the fundraising initiative is being administered by Voluntary and Community Action South Bedfordshire. It allows employees, whose organisations have Payroll Giving Schemes set up, to make ONE regular donation from their salary which will support TEN local causes, as every £1 given is shared by all!

By donating through Payroll Giving, employees can give more from less. The donations are taken before tax, so every pound received by the charity costs the individual just 78p* – the tax office pays the rest! Donations made in this way are organised by your employer and are not just great for individual support but give charities a long term, regular unrestricted income.

Voluntary and Community Action said, “Our TEN charities are working together to raise funds for good causes in the local community. This offers people living and working in South Bedfordshire a way to support a variety of causes, from wildlife to disability to heritage and the environment, and they can do all this with just one donation – any amount given is then shared equally by all!”

10together will be approaching local businesses to see if they can promote this to their employees. Where employers do not have a scheme in place, they will be encouraging them to set one up to enhance their Corporate Social Responsibility or Community Engagement policies. It’s easy to set up and once in place takes about 10 minutes a month to administer.
