Below is a list of different funding bodies that may be of use to your organisation.

This page is regularly updated so please keep an eye out for new funding opportunities and/or deadline updates....

 

  1. The Bedford Charity
    Funding projects which benefit residents of the Borough of Bedford, the Bedford Charity has £1m to distribute in 2009 – 2010. £500,000 is available in their themed grants programmes, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health and £500,000 in a general responsive programme.

    There are five main application deadlines a year, and no minimum or maximum awards, although most applications are for between £1,000 and £20,000.

    Applicants are encouraged to telephone the grants department before applying.

  2. East of England Community Grants
    The aim of the programme is to support organisations who are working with people who face barriers to the labour market or to mainstream skills provision.

    Small voluntary and community organisations are invited to apply for grants of up to £12,000 to work with people who are unemployed or economically inactive.

    Applications deadline: 12.00pm on Monday 12th October 2009

  3. Low-cost shop of fundraising expertise
    UK Fundraising has launched an online shop offering downloadable documents full of practical, informed fundraising advice from a range of different fundraisers and fundraising consultants. All the documents cost either £5, £10, or £20. The shop is designed to make good quality fundraising advice available to a wide audience at a very low cost. Each document addresses a particular issue or guides you through how to solve a particular fundraising problem.

  4. Big Lottery Announce Extra Funds for the Recession
    The Big Lottery is providing the voluntary sector with 80% of its funds rather than the current 60 to 80%, and an extra £45m to help charities through the recession. The announcement came after their new funding strategy was revealed, which will be running for the next 6 years. The strategy follows its Big Thinking consultation where The Big Lottery asked the public and stakeholders how its budget for new funding should be spent.

  5. Communitybuilders
    This is a £70m funding programme designed to help strengthen the financial resilience of third sector organisations often referred to as 'community anchors'. The Adventure Capital Fund (ACF), in partnership with Futurebuilders England and the Community Alliance, has been appointed to deliver Communitybuilders on behalf of the Office of the Third Sector (OTS) and Communities & Local Government (CLG).

  6. Comic Relief
    Comic Relief is offering funding to organisations working with young people aged 11 to 25 who experience problems with alcohol use. Joint applications from young people's and alcohol agencies are welcomed.

    Grants: between £15,000 & £40,000 per year, for 1-3 years

  7. The Youth of Today
    Funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and the Department for Communities and Local Government, The Youth of Today programme will look to encourage young people aged 13 to 19 to make the most of their talent and get their voices heard.

    There are two types of grant available:
  • Scaling Up. This fund helps organisations take their existing projects to the next level. The next deadline will be in the Autumn of 2009.

  • Reaching Out. This fund enables established third sector organisations to develop new and exciting projects. This funding stream will open in Autumn 09.

  1. Mediabox
    Mediabox is a fund which gives disadvantaged 13-19 year olds an opportunity to develop and produce creative media projects using film, television, print, radio or online platforms.
    Three different types of grants are offered ranging from £100 to £80,000 to create and distribute youth-led media projects that express young people's views in a creative way, using their preferred media platform.

  2. Cash 4 Clubs
    Cash 4 Clubs is a sports funding scheme which gives grassroots clubs a unique chance to apply for grants to improve facilities, purchase new equipment, gain coaching qualifications, and generally invest in the sustainability of their club.

    Grants: between £250 and £1,000

  3. The Small Grants Scheme  2010-2011 (The Under £3k Grant)
    The scheme is aimed at small voluntary and community organisations.

    Grants: up to £3,000 to support small VCS groups with a total income of less than £50,000pa
    Application deadline: 2 October 2009.

  4. September Streetcred
    The next round of Streetcred funding for Bedford Borough Council applicants is now available.

    The closing date is 4pm, Friday 18th September 2009.

  5. Hardship Fund
    Funds for third sector organisations that work with vilnerable and disadvantaged people, which are in financial difficulty.

    Grants: between £50,000 and £250,000

    Eligibility: organisations must have annual turnovers of at least £200,000 and deliver services in health and social care, housing support, education and training, or information, advice and guidance.

  6. Lloyds TSB Foundation launches young offenders fund
    The Young Offenders Programme is open to charities that are working to steer young offenders away from a life of crime. Charities of any size are welcome to apply and can work in areas including, amongst others, accommodation, mental health, skills training and restorative justice

  7. Bedfordshire Police Partnership Trust
    The Trust supports community initiatives in Bedfordshire that work in the following fields: crime prevention, community safety, drugs misuse and prevention, schools liaison or road safety.

    Grants: up to £1,000

  8. Foundation For Sport And The Arts Grants
    Grants to further athletic sports, athletic games, recreation and the arts to improve the quality of life for the community. Priority is given to measures to increase participation in, and enjoyment of, sport and the arts regardless of levels of competence, and the active participation of young people.

    Grants: Maximum grant £75,000, with the practical maximum in most cases being £35,000-£40,000

  9. Houghton Regis Town Council
    Grants are available for development costs or for setting up a new group, new activities or new projects and may be available for general running costs at the discretion of the Council. There is no set limit; however Grants are normally between £50 and £500.
