Youth Sector Development Fund (4th Round)
The purpose of the YSDF is to promote and support growth and build capacity within third sector organisations (TSOs) who deliver effective services and activities for young people in England, particularly the most disadvantaged.
Through a mixture of grant funding and business support DCSF wants to enable good third sector youth organisations to sustain and grow their provision, including strategies to diversify their income streams. Up to £100 million from April 2008 to March 2011 is available to support third sector organisations (TSOs)
The deadline for applications is 4pm, 4th February 2010.

A bigger role for communities in inspiring young people- News of funding
Funding will be made available to up to 15 neighbourhoods (comprising between 5,000 and 10,000 residents) who will receive up to £450,000 and expert help over the next 2 years to design and deliver projects and activities. For full details about the fund click here.
The Home Office £4.5m Community Fund – helping the community tackle guns, gangs and knives.
Youth violence is a major concern that continues to devastate families, communities and neighbourhoods.
The Home Office is working across government to provide help and support for young people, parents and victims. Voluntary and community organisations are key to this process and can make a real difference by transforming the lives of vulnerable young people who are either at risk or who have been involved in gangs or carried or used an offensive weapon.
In December 2008, the Home Secretary outlined a new £4.5m fund for local community groups to run activities for young people in 13 priority areas (One of which is Bedfordshire, and as Luton is covered by Bedfordshire Police, this includes us). This will fund intensive work with young people through mentoring and outreach work. Organisations can apply for grant funding of up to £10,000 per annum for three years.

Grants to finance tendering costs or capacity building work
The Small Organisation Tender Fund helps finance tendering costs or capacity building work – such as legal costs, advice from procurement specialists, financial expertise and bidding staff costs – to help small organisations win specific public sector contracts.
There is a limited pot of up to £220,000 for this fund and grants will be offered for up to 10% of a contract value, up to a maximum of £15,000. Contracts being tendered for must hold a minimum value of £30,000. There is no closing date for applications. A ‘small organisation’ for the purposes of this fund is defined as one with an annual turnover of less than £250,000 and applicants must have been trading for a minimum of one year.

Improving Mental Health And Well- Being For Young People
Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Mental Health Foundation are inviting applications from groups of voluntary and statutory organisations across the UK, to work with them in developing new ways of protecting and promoting the mental health and well-being of 16 to 25 year olds. We expect to select up to four partnerships to work with from September 2009 – December 2013, with one focusing on improving support for Black and Minority Ethnic Young People.
Each of the pilots will be awarded up to £800,000 from September 2009 - April 2013. We will also provide additional support to assist with planning and implementing the work, developing the partnerships, and documenting and sharing the learning.
